In the heart of Karachi’s Model Colony, behind Jinnah International Airport, stands the blessed shrine of Hazrat Sakhi Sarwar Qalandar (R.A.) — a beacon of spiritual light, love, and devotion for seekers of the Qalandari path. Known for his generosity, compassion, and deep connection with Allah, Hazrat Sakhi Sarwar Qalandar (R.A.) holds a revered place in the hearts of countless devotees in Karachi and beyond. Life and Spiritual Legacy

Hazrat Sakhi Sarwar Qalandar (R.A.) was not only a saint but also a complete Sufi personality, blessed with the spiritual authority of all five major Sufi orders — Qalandari, Qadri, Chishti, Suhrawardi, and Naqshbandi. He was spiritually adopted by Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar (R.A.), who honored him with the title “Qalandar” and treated him as a spiritual son. His noble lineage traces back to Imam Hussain (A.S.), through Imam Zain-ul-Abideen (A.S.) and Hazrat Ismail Makki (R.A.).

The Shrine in Karachi

Urs Mubarak in Karachi

The Urs Mubarak at the Karachi shrine is one of the most anticipated spiritual events of the year for his devotees. Unlike other locations where the Urs may be tied to different months, here it is celebrated annually on the 28th, 29th, and 30th of Rabi‘ al-Thani under the supervision of Hazrat Sakhi Farukh Sarwar Qalandar (R.A.).

During the Urs, the shrine comes alive with:

  • Zikr mehfils (spiritual gatherings of remembrance)

  • Langar (free food served to all visitors)

  • Qawwali sessions celebrating love for Allah and His friends

  • Special dua sessions for peace, health, and blessings

The Urs not only honors his life but also serves as a time for devotees to renew their spiritual commitments.

Spiritual Succession

After Hazrat Sakhi Sarwar Qalandar (R.A.)’s passing in 2005, his spiritual mission in Karachi continues under the guidance of his noble sons:

  • Hazrat Sakhi Farukh Sarwar Qalandar (R.A.) – Elder son, Sajjada Nashin of the Shrine and Patron

  • Hazrat Sakhi Khurram Sarwar Qalandar (R.A.) – Younger son and  Sajjada Nashin of the Shrine

The first murid, malang, and balka (personal attendant) was Hazrat Shaukat Ali Qalandari (R.A.), and the present Khalifa-e-Awwal (chief successor) is Hazrat Salman Qalandari (R.A.).
